People have been using money for thousands of years, and wisdoms about financing has been passed down from generation to generation. While it is a common trend that people tend to use digital payment instead of traditional cash in consuming scenarios, old ways to developing children’s financing abilities seem to be out of time because of the intangibility and non-physicality of digital numbers. In an era of totally cash-free payment, how to cultivate proper financial awareness and habits of children?

To help children and worrying parents in a long-term way, I need to change the perception of digital money in kid’s world. Thus, turning numbers into something they can see, touch and understand has become the most important way. Digital money box consists of a mobile app and a product. The product illustrates the value of money by using shinning coins to represent pocket money kids receive, teaches children to build a reasonable consuming structure by classifying money according to different purposes, forces children to be responsible for the choices they have made through the non-transferability between categories, makes financing a habit by reminding system, and helps parents to pass down their wisdom about financing through feedback system.
